Release Overview
Q2S06.23 provides the following enhancements/updates:

  1. New Feature! Store Card on File + Recurring / Membership Billing (POS + eCommerce)
  2. First American Processing Systems (FAPS) – Eliminate Need for Auth.net in Orchid POS Hand Key
  3. Orchid eCommerce – Expanded List Product Attributes
  4. Orchid eCommerce – Expanded Control over Item Display

New Feature! – Store Card on File + Recurring / Membership Billing (POS + eCommerce)

Many customers with shooting ranges or membership services have requested a recurring billing feature within Orchid POS. This feature is now live and available for users who request participation in the beta test group. Functions of the recurring / membership billing include:

  1. Create membership type
  2. Define billing increment as one-time, bi-weekly, monthly, or annual
  3. Store customer card on file

The customer can have multiple memberships and the prices can be changed without requesting the customer to return to the store. This is particularly helpful for annual membership pricing increases.  Additionally, the customer’s credit card expiration date and CVV code can be changed (as it renews/changes) without having the customer return to the store.

Recurring / membership billing and the ability to store card on file will now work in both Orchid POS and Orchid eCommerce.  The ‘Store Card on File” is automatic in the POS but will allow the customer the option to store or not store their card during an eCommerce transaction. Recurring / membership billing is not required to store a card on file in the eCommerce environment.

Please note, at this time recurring / membership billing does require credit card hand key rather than swipe, dip or tap. For in-store purposes, the store can either key the credit card for the customer or use a tablet/PC kiosk which displays their eComm webstore, thus enabling the customer to purchase the membership and hand key on their own.

First American Processing Systems (FAPS) – Eliminate Need for Auth.net in Orchid POS Hand Key

Orchid has secured a partnership with industry-leading an uniquely firearm friendly payment processor, First American Payment Systems. The relationship provides a single account for both in-store and online (card not present) transactions and includes the deployment of wifi (or non-wifi-based) Ingenico Desk 3500 card readers. Stores who are highly active with in-store hand key transactions will benefit by eliminating the need to use an Authorize.net gateway. The FAPS integration is now ‘native’ to Orchid POS allowing seamless processing without a third party application.

Orchid eCommerce – Expanded List Product Attributes

The “Managed Inventory” area of Orchid POS permits the characterization of inventory by a number of attributes which display in the Orchid eCommerce webstore as shoppers click to review an item.
